│ THE LIST DOOR │
└───────────────┘
By: Mark Chickering (703) 886-7825 (Data)
Welcome to THE LIST DOOR! BBS lists can be quite long and tedious. I have
tried to design The List Door to help you find the BBS you are looking for with
the utmost of ease! The Door is designed to allow you to search THE LIST BBS
List by Area-code, State, Modem Type, 9600 Baud Support, BBS type, and a three
letter Name String. The Door also allows you to view the entire list.
All Commands can be entered in UPPER or Lower Case.
At any time during a search you may adort it and return to the Door's
Main Menu by typing "N" at any "More: (Y)es or (N)o?" prompt.
Commands are Quite Simple yet allow you the maximum of flexibility in your
searches and are listed below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A - Area-Code Search. By typing "A" at the main menu command prompt you will
be allowed to enter a 3 digit area code. The DOOR then checks the validity of
the 3 Digit code and if it is not an area code in the US or CANADA then you
will be propted to enter a new area code or "000" to return to the main menu.
There are times when you will enter an area code and no BBS's will be listed.
this is beacuse no Bulletin Boards have been added to The List for that
area, this will probably change as new lists are released.
After the search is completed you will be returned to the DOORS Main Menu.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C - Search By Code Field. This allows you to search by any parameter listed
in the code field. These include USRobotics, Hayes, 9600 Baud, 1200 Baud,
2400 Baud, 24 Hour BBS's, PC-Persuitable BBS's and Pay BBS's. After you
choose the "C" option at the main menu you will be presented with a list
of parameters for which you may search. By entering "R" you will be returned
to the Main Menu.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
N - Find a three letter string in the Name field of THELIST.
The three letter String is CASE Senative. "Ter" IS NOT the same as "ter" or
"TER". We suggest you first try the string that you are looking for with the
FIRST letter capital.
Entering "Ter" will find both "The Terrapin Station BBS" and "Terrapin Station
BBS" If a board name starts with "The" you can search by that or the next
"word" in the BBS name
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
H - Help! Redraw The Main Menu Screen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R - Also Re-Draws The Main Menu Screen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S - State Search. By typing "S" at the main menu command prompt you will be
prompted to enter a 2 letter State Code. This code corresponds to the 2
Letter State Abbreviations used by our US Postal Service. After you enter
the State Code the door will search for any matches and you will be returned
to the main menu. Because of the fahoin in which the STATE CODE is entered
on THE LIST itself the DOOR may not find ALL of the BBS Listed for any
particular State. There is margin for error here but we have tried to keep
the search as complete as possible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I - Instructions. Displays this Documentation file.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G - Graphics toggle. You may change between ANSI Graphics display mode and
Non-ANSI graphics display mode by selecting "G" at the main Menu command
prompt. Using ansi on a monochrome monitor may cause some text to be
underlined.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V - View Entire List. Displays The List's BBS List as released by James E.
Toro. At any time during the display you may quit back to the main menu
by typing "N" at one of the "More: (Y)es or (N)o?:" prompts.
